Working Together to Create Inclusive Learning Environments Where Every Child Can Thrive

Effective communication is at the heart of learning, relationships and emotional wellbeing. At The Speech Therapy Centre, we work in partnership with nurseries, mainstream schools, specialist provisions, academies and multi-academy trusts to support children and young people to develop the communication skills they need in the classroom and beyond.

Our collaborative approach combines specialist Speech and Language Therapy with practical strategies, targeted intervention and staff development, helping schools build inclusive environments in which all pupils can participate, learn and achieve. Whether you need regular therapist input across your school or specialist support for an individual pupil, we work with you to develop a service that complements your existing provision and priorities.

A collaborative approach

We believe the strongest outcomes are achieved when therapists, education staff and families work together.

Our Speech and Language Therapists work as part of your wider team, developing positive working relationships with SENCOs, teachers, teaching assistants, senior leaders, parents and other professionals involved in a child’s care.

Recommendations are designed to be practical and achievable within the school environment. We provide strategies, resources and ongoing advice that staff can confidently incorporate into everyday classroom practice, helping communication support continue beyond individual therapy sessions.

Flexible support for your school

Our services can be commissioned flexibly according to the needs of individual schools, specialist settings and multi-academy trusts.

This could include support for an individual pupil, targeted blocks of intervention, regular therapist sessions or a wider whole-school approach to speech, language and communication.

Our therapists work across early years, primary and secondary education and can provide support within school, at our clinics or through a blended approach where appropriate.

Supporting inclusive practice

Schools are supporting an increasingly diverse range of speech, language and communication needs within inclusive classrooms. Our role extends beyond providing direct therapy. Through our training programmes, we help school staff develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to recognise communication needs and support pupils throughout the school day.

By working together, we can strengthen communication-friendly practice across the school, build staff capacity and create environments in which children and young people with communication needs are able to participate and learn.

Build skills. Build capacity.

We help schools build lasting speech and language support by developing the skills and confidence of the people working with pupils every day.

Our therapists can train teachers to create communication-friendly, inclusive classrooms and support teaching assistants to confidently deliver targeted speech and language groups and programmes.

Training is available across a range of topics, including speech and language needs, DLD, speech sound difficulties, autism, social communication, language development and identifying SLCN. Training can also be tailored to the needs of your school and pupils.
